I am an IOM
What is an IOM you ask? Fair question.
After four years and at least 100 hours of class time, I graduated from the US Chamber of Commerce’s Institute of Organizational Management at the University of Arizona in January of this year. Institute is designed to be a training course for non-profit executives to get the tools and resources they need to better manage their organizations.
My class (pictured here) spent four years getting to know each other and helping each other learn how to better serve our communities from our various organizations and positions. Having missed “year three” because I was in between jobs, it was a great honor to have caught up by “fast-tracking” at the Los Angeles Institute and then join my original class in Tuscon for our final year and graduation ceremony.
I am certainly proud of my “IOM” designation, but I found my time getting to know my fellow colleagues, sharing in each others experiences and the sense of camaraderie with everyone in our class will be a treasured experience that I will always remember and take with me where ever life might lead.
Literally.
The relationships that were built at Institute over the past four years have provided a constant sounding board and source of friendship that I will continue to rely on, both professionally and personally, wherever I might go.
Here’s to 4C-1!
