My Beautiful Adventurous Wife

This Memorial Weekend we have stuck close to home. Why not, it’s
Santa Barbara. However, I was supposed to be going on a 4×4 trip
through our local Land Rover dealer near here. It was canceled, so
Tarah decided she wanted to go hiking. Amazing. She’s 24 weeks along
and still game for taking the dogs out on the trail. So we loaded
everyone up in Big Red and headed up to the trail head. We didn’t do
the entire loop, but we did a good portion of it. I was proud of
her. I know pregnant ladies can go jogging and do all kinds of stuff,
but its pretty amazing nonetheless. I’m not sure I would say that I’d
be up to go on a 5 mile hike while pregnant.

And tomorrow. . .bike ride to Santa Barbara. She’s crazy, but I love
her.

My Relay for Life Team: FLOWER POWER

This year Tarah and I have signed up to participate in Relay for Life,
which is a fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. I
participated in this event in Shelton and was really impressed with
the community involvement and support for such an important cause. It
seems we all have been impacted by cancer in some way, either directly
or through the experience of someone we love. I am almost certain
that cancer will impact my family directly in the future, which is why
finding the cure is so important and efforts like these are critical
to help achieve and support that goal.

So, my team is team FLOWER POWER. No surprise as to how I’ve arrived
at that name, as my team will include people from the local flower
industry here in Carpinteria. It should be a great time, but our team
fundraising goal is $1750.00 and we can use everyone’s help to get us
there. Donating is made easy through an awesome website we have for
our team: http://main.acsevents.org/goto/Flower_Power

Click on that website and you can see who is on our team, how much
money we’ve raised, purchase a luminaria bag and donate to our team
goal.

If you’d like to learn more about Relay for Life, click here and thank
you in advance for your support!

Welcome to Carpinteria Brandon!

This weekend I am spending my time at UC Davis learning about the science of flowers, rehydration, temp storage flower food, etc. Goodtimes.

There are about 15 students in the program from all over the world all here to conduct and witness a variety of experiments on flowers.

Workin’ Mamma

Workin’ Mamma

We’ve been taking a few pictures here and there of Tarah as she
progresses in her pregnancy with the little man. I thought this was
an exceptionally good looking photo of her on her way to work this
morning.

It has been pretty amazing to watch this process and feel the little
guy kicking around in there. I can’t wait to meet him. Tarah’s been
quite the trooper too. She’s had such a mellow pregnancy that has
allowed us to keep a pretty normal schedule of activities. She does
go to bed a bit earlier, but I think she secretly likes that anyway.
Meanwhile I stay up and watch episodes of the Colbert Report!

Brad and Summer Visit Us!

Brad and Summer Visit Us!

Originally uploaded by Mr_Cronquist.

Tarah and I recently enjoyed a wonderful visit from our friends Brad
and Summer. Living in Gig Harbor now, they snuck away from the rain
and clouds to enjoy some days in the Santa Barbara sun and celebrate
Summers birthday! Happy Birthday to Summer! We were blessed to spend
this vacation time with them and it was fun to see the two pregnant
ladies hangin’ out together. We had a great time chatting it up about
the babies to be. I’d say boys to be, but the jury is still out on
what Brad and Summer are having. They like to go “‘la natural” and
wait and see what they get. I’m guessing boy. Not sure why and my
vote may change, but I’m feelin boy.

Ironically, since they left, the weather here hasn’t been so great.
I’m guessing Summer worked it out so that she could take it with her,
leaving us with cool and cloudy days. Brad and I got to surf a couple
days, which was totally cool. There is nothing like just paddling out
with a friend, hanging out and catching some wave (I’m still working
on the last part).

This photo is us hanging out on State Street enjoying a little happy
hour.

I sure miss hanging out with Brad and Summer, so this was a real treat
and we hope to see them again too! I miss seeing a lot of people and
everyone is invited to come a visit when they can. . .we’ll leave the
light on for ya’!
